In just a couple days, the Pennsylvania online lottery is rolling out an exciting new promotion in which they will be handing out $50,000 in cash prizes. This new “Pot of Gold” promotion officially begins on February 12, 2019 and lasts for seven weeks, with seven sets of drawings each, culminating in one final huge drawing on St. Patrick’s Day (March 17th).
There was some thought put into the structure of the prize money distribution in the “Pot of Gold” promotion and it shows. The payout structure is flat enough so that every player has a decent chance of winning and it also has a nice big prize at the end to entice players interested in a big payday.
Over the next seven weeks (until March 17), the PA iLottery will be selecting 100 winners each week who will each receive $50. In the drawing occurring on the seventh (and final) week, they will double the number of winners to 200 and give each of them $50. Finally, on that last week, the Pot of Gold promotion culminates with a drawing in which one lucky player will be chosen to receive the Grand Prize of $10,000.
When it’s all said and done, Pennsylvania’s online lottery will give out $50,000 to 801 winners over a span of seven weeks.
As one might anticipate, this promotion appears to be intended to increase the amount of player deposits (and a corresponding increase in the total volume of play) on the PA iLottery platform. To qualify for each week’s drawing, players will have to log into their accounts and make a new deposit of at least $25 – and play it through. In other words, if a player wanted to take full advantage of the promotion, they will have to make seven deposits (one per week) of at least $25 AND play $25 worth of iLottery games during each week.
A piece of good news: There is no restriction on specific PA iLottery games that are or are not eligible. Simply log in and play any of your favorites. All games on the platform qualify players for the promotion – so long as players deposit (and play through) a minimum of $25. Obviously depositing more and/or playing more is also encouraged.
An important point: In order to be eligible to the drawing, players must take the important (and easily forgotten) step of logging into either their mobile app or online account and actively “claiming” their eligibility for the weekly drawing. Also, players must remember to select CLAIM each week in order to be eligible for the $10,000 “Pot of Gold” grand prize at the end of the promotion. In this way (depositing – playing – claiming) players can earn the maximum of SEVEN entries for the $10,000 Grand Prize.
for Pennsylvania online lottery players who are interested in this promotion, it’s important that they keep an eye on the start and stop of each week’s qualifying period.
There are a total of seven draws – one each week:
