FanDuel West Virginia Online Sportsbook Is First To Launch In State Since BetLucky Went Offline

West Virginia FanDuel Online Sportsbook Opens

West Virginia finally has an online sports betting option as the Greenbier officially launched a WV sportsbook app through FanDuel on Monday at 6 AM.

The state has been without an online option since West Virginia’s Betlucky went offline due to an internal dispute, which has left West Virginia sports bettors without a legal way to bet online since March. Retail sportsbooks have continued to offer betting lines at the Mardi Gras and Wheeling Island casinos.

The FanDuel WV sportsbook app comes less than two weeks before the start of the NFL season, the peak of the sports betting season, an important milestone given that a large percentage of sports betting comes from online sources in states where both retail and online sportsbetting are regulated. In New Jersey, online sports betting represents about three-fourths of all sports wagering in the state.

FanDuel WV comes via The GreenBrier

An app for FanDuel West Virginia, which also partners with The Greenbrier on their retail sportsbook in White Sulphur Springs, can be downloaded via iOS and Android. West Virginia users are able to place bets 24/7 through FanDuel WV as long as they are physically located in the state at the time of wager. Although FanDuel has traditionally been known for its daily fantasy sports site, the Betfair-owned brand has recently expanded to online and retail sports betting in states such as New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

WV FanDuel users can place wagers on a large selection of betting lines on baseball, football, basketball, hockey, golf, darts, boxing, rugby, soccer, tennis and more. Like many sports books that have been regulated in the United States over the last few years, West Virginians can place their bets on money lines, totals, spreads, props and futures.

Payments can be be made through credit card, debit card, FanDuel prepaid card, Paypal, bank transfers and checks.

Fanduel users who already have an account through its DFS services can log in with their existing account.

What’s next for online sportsbetting in WV?

West Virginia won’t have to wait long for another mobile sportsbook option. The state will welcome the DraftKings online sportsbook app sometime before the start of the NFL season. The app will be launched in conjunction with the Hollywood Casino located in Charles Town. DraftKings currently operates a popular online sportsbook in New Jersey.
